Regional Medical Center Bayonet Points Joyce Hagen-Flint and Betty Davis Receive Pasco County Health Department Award
Hudson, Florida Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point has announced that Joyce Hagen-Flint, MSA (Master of Science in Administration), FHCFA (Fellow Health Care Foodservice Administrator) and Betty Davis, MS (Master of Science), RD (Registered Dietitian), LD/N (Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist), CNSD (Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian) and the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point food and nutrition staff were awarded the Mildred Kaufman Public Health Nutrition Award on Saturday, June 12, 2010.The award was received in recognition of their commitment to the Pasco County Health Department Dietetic Internship of 2010.
The Pasco County Health Department Dietetic Internship is one of the largest in the country, preparing future Registered Dietitians for a career in community nutrition and public health. The award is given to individuals that have contributed significantly to the advances of public health nutrition in conjunction with the Pasco County Health Department Dietetic Internship. The selection was made by the 18 interns in the program (six of them were at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for management rotation and two for clinical rotation).
In presenting the award Pasco County Health Department states that Joyce Hagen-Flint and Betty Davis showed a high degree of commitment to the departments internship program. According to the award, Joyce and Betty, along with their staff, play a number of key roles in the internship. First, both function as major preceptors for the interns assigned to the Pasco region Joyce as General Food Service and Betty as General Clinical and lay incredible groundwork for our interns to go on to their specialty rotations.
In addition, the Food & Nutrition Services staff at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point opens its facility and shares staff with interns assigned to the Pasco region. They volunteer their time to mentor the interns throughout the internship by including them in any community presentations, food shows, and other gatherings of nutrition professionals in the local area. Their support for our internship is well appreciated, and that is why we are awarding the Mildred Kaufman Public Health Nutrition Award for 2010.
