Hudson, FL – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point announces that it recently received institutional accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). This is Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point’s second step in developing
a Graduate Medical Education GME) and a logical progression as Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point continues to expand into other resident specialties.
In August Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point announced that it was approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) for an internal medicine residency program. The program is accredited for 18 residents with 6 starting in July 2014.
According to Florida Department of Health there is a critical statewide need for physicians and expansion of GME programs such as this can help alleviate the shortages. The program will also benefit local communities with studies showing that many physicians practice where they complete their residency.
