February 03, 2009

Hudson, Florida (February 3, 2009) – On Friday, January 30, 2009 Esther Froehle was honored for volunteering over 50,000 hours at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Esther has been volunteering at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point for over 27 years. She is the first volunteer to reach 50,000 actual volunteer hours. Esther has ministered in the Pastoral Care Services Department all of those years. She helped begin the Chaplain’s Aide program and has been its Chairperson since its inception. She has worked with all four of the hospital’s Chaplains and has served with skill, grace and compassion. “All who are associated with her and especially the patients have richly benefitted from her genuine care and spiritual concern” said hospital Chaplain Jack Long at the presentation.

Esther was honored with letters of congratulations from State Rep. John Legg, State Senator Mike Fasano, U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson and Governor Charlie Crist, for her for her service to the hospital. The hospital is also honoring her by assigning her name to the Chaplain’s Aide Office. It is now “THE ESTHER JOHNSON-FROEHLE CHAPLAIN’S AIDE ROOM.” A plaque will be affixed there at the office, which is located by admitting and ER.
