The Heart Institute at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point has announced that its Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department will offer individual and small group tours during Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week (March 13-19). The cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are specially designed programs to improve the health of those who have specific heart and lung conditions that alter their daily lives. These programs may include:
- Monitored exercise programs
- Increased quality of life
- Making friends with people who have similar conditions
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a medically supervised exercise program organized to teach individuals about their lungs. It incorporates specific exercises and tasks that make it easier to perform activities without shortness of breath. The goal of Pulmonary Rehabilitation is for the patient to regain independence from shortness of breath. The program is overseen by a medical director and is staffed by registered nurses and master level exercise physiologists. The program also features Cassie, a certified therapy dog who is used to comfort, lower anxiety and depression, lower blood pressure and heart rates, and all in all to simply brighten the day for many.
Individual or small group who wish to take tours of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program should call Shannon Neumann at 727-869-5566 or email her directly at Shannon.neumann@HCAHealthcare.com.
