Hudson, FL – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point announces that the members of its Surgical Intensive Care Unit earned the Runner Up Winner Award of ADVANCE for Nurses Best Nursing Team contest. The Surgical Intensive Care Unit was honored for its growth and adaptability during its first year as a Level II trauma center.
In consideration for the award, the team was cited for its success in cultivating and applying the core value of adaptability to its nursing practice. All members of the team became Trauma Nursing Course Certified (TNCC) and took advantage of additional educational offerings when possible. Many members of the team also acquired Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification.
Additionally, the team was commended for its ability to adapt to the new patient population that occurs with the addition of a trauma program – younger patients with more complex medical issues.
Recently the Florida Department of Health awarded Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point full Level II trauma center designation. The hospital was told that the inspectors were very impressed with the trauma program and especially complimentary of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit team. The length of stay of this program is lower than the national average, attesting to the team’s successful transition to providing outstanding trauma care.
