May 11, 2012
Hudson, FL – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point has been honored with a “Partner Recognition” Award by Practice Greenhealth, the national membership organization for healthcare facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations. The Award is one of the organization’s Environmental Excellence Awards given each year to honor environmental achievements in the healthcare sector.
“This Award demonstrates Regional Medical Center’s commitment to their patients and community to protect public health and preserve the environment,” said Laura Wenger, RN, Executive Director, Practice Greenhealth. “Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point is truly demonstrating leadership for the future of healthcare.”
The Partner Recognition Award is for healthcare facilities that have begun to work on environmental improvements, have achieved progress in several areas, and have at least a ten percent recycling rate for their total waste stream. Recipients receive a bamboo framed certificate.
Minimum qualifications for the Partner Recognition Award have been raised and now include:
- Recycling 10% of more of their total waste stream
- Completion of the waste assessment summary table
- Completion of a number of successful pollution prevention or sustainability projects.
This year Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point was able to reach 12% recycled material from its solid waste.
The Practice Greenhealth Environmental Excellence Awards were presented in Denver, CO, at CleanMed, THE premier national environmental conference for leaders in health care sustainability.
This year Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point was one of only 53 Partnership Award recipients.
