Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point Announces Its Volunteer 5 Star Award Winners for the Third Quarter of 2011

Hudson, FL – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point has announced the recipients of its third quarter Volunteer Five Star and One Star Awards. The recipients for the Five Star Award are Carole Murphy, Jackie Ruth, and Geri Wojcik.

Carole Murphy started volunteering in September, 2009 and she has 2,318 hours.  Carole wears many volunteer hats.  She is a Courier, she is a cashier in the Gift Shop and she helps stuff the Heart Pillows we give to our Cardiac Surgical patients. Her friendly and warm nature has endeared her to all that meet her.  She loves helping visitors select the appropriate gift when they ask for help.  Carole loves people and her cats and it shows in everything she does.  Carole is an asset to the Volunteer Association and the hospital. Carole truly deserves the 5 Star Volunteer Award.

Jackie Ruth started volunteering in July, 2009 and has 1,645 hours. Jackie volunteers in the Gift Shop as a cashier and also in the Gift Shop Inventory area. She goes to the Gift Shop Shows and helps to pick out many of the items, especially the jewelry, you find in the Gift Shop. She works tirelessly on improving the inventory system.  She interacts well with the public, patients, staff and other volunteers.  And she does all this with a smile.  Jackie is an asset to the Volunteer Association and the hospital. Jackie is truly deserves the 5 Star Volunteer Award.

Geri Wojcik started volunteering in February 2005, and has 1,257 hours.  Geri volunteers in Welcome Center D. She greets everyone in a friendly and professional manner. She also assists visitors to locate their patient, make necessary calls to get a Courtesy Cart, taxi, wheel chair or to help those who are in the wrong location. She also makes sure the reception area is tidy and clean.  She is wonderful with anyone that comes into the hospital. She goes out of her way to help them with excellent service. Geri is an outstanding example of what a volunteer is and is an asset to the hospital and the Volunteer Organization. Geri is truly deserving of the 5 Star Volunteer Award.

The recipients of the One Star Award for the second quarter are Frank Cianci, Wilma Comeau and Ken Mercer.

Frank Cianci started volunteering in April 2005 and has over 1,152 hours.  Frank has a positive attitude, is always courteous and polite. He always provides excellent service to patients, visitors and co-workers. He is quick to offer solutions when problems arise which helps maintain an efficient work area. As one of his co-workers commented “he really is a nice guy” and is deserving of the 1 Star Achievement Award.

Wilma Comeau started volunteering in July 2010 and has over 519 hours.  She volunteers as a Mail Courier and at Welcome Center D. This unique lady excels in kindness and gentleness that immediately endears her to those she serves and for those who seek her assistance. Wilma acts with compassion and understanding in any given situation and is truly deserving of the 1 Star Achievement Award.

Ken Mercer started volunteering in March 2004 and has over 580 hours. Ken is a Courtesy Cart Driver. He is a dedicated Saturday morning driver which means he is out there in the cold winter mornings and the hot summertime. He is there every week to help visitors into the hospital and find their cars when they come out. He is truly deserving of the 1 Star Achievement Award.
