Trauma Care Community Benefit

Building a Higher Level of Care

photo of rmc facility

Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point has achieved many milestones, including becoming a Level II Trauma center. Having already demonstrated excellence through its nationally renowned Heart Institute, the Bayonet Point team knew they had the foundation of clinical excellence and infrastructure to develop a top rated Trauma program. Hospital leadership also knew that this was a needed service, as the facility is located far from other trauma centers, in a region designated as underserved by the state and having the second highest mortality rate for brain injury trauma and fourth for motor vehicle trauma. After three years of hard work, the hospital earned designation as a State verified Level II Trauma Center on Friday, February 1, 2013.

Formalization of our care to critically injured patients into a verified Level II Trauma Center continues to improve the quality of care for all of the patients that we serve, much like our focused efforts regarding Stroke and STEMI Alerts have done for those patients.
