Hudson, FL – Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point announces that it recently held its 31st Volunteer Appreciation Awards Banquet on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Spartan Manor in New Port Richey. In addition to the many festivities recognizing the services of the volunteers, Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point announced this year’s volunteers of the year. They are John Cardalena and Ann Amato.

Ann Amato started volunteering in June 1985 and has 8,510 hours. Ann is the gentle lady who greets our patients, their families and guests, our staff and her fellow volunteers at Welcome Center A. Her warmth, graciousness and patience make her an outstanding ambassador for the hospital and the Volunteer Association. Over the past 27 years Ann has seen many changes at Welcome Center A and, although she was apprehensive at times, she continued to adapt and change to fit the growing needs of the hospital and its visitors.

John Cardalena started volunteering in October 2005 and has over 13,262 hours. As Chairperson of the ER Unit he is known for his very outgoing personality. He instills confidence with the care that the patient receives in the ER and is very responsive to the patient’s needs. He assists the staff when needed, making rooms ready for new patients and other necessary errands. John is also responsible for the training, and assisting of all new volunteers in the ER. John also serves as President of the Suncoast Health & Education Foundation. This is a nonprofit foundation that is responsible for the Tree of Life in our main lobby and giving continuing education scholarships to employees and volunteers.
